It's the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi, and protozoa. It's a scientific discipline that examines microbes and microbial diseases. Antimicrobial therapies, vaccines, hygiene, and antiseptic techniques are intellectual achievements that represent foundations for the current medical revolution.
MNR Microbiology department's vision and mission are to grow as a Department of Excellence in Medical Microbiology & Immunology through constant updating of knowledge, Research, and creative Teaching-Learning methodology, and to educate and equip the students, to offer quality healthcare.
The Department of Microbiology at MNR Medical College and Hospital provides quality education through both teaching and research, necessary to meet this growing field's needs. The other area of interest & commitment of the department is infection control.
The department's infection control team makes periodical rounds to check the biomedical waste, segregation & disposal. The team also focuses on effective infection prevention among the HCW and undergraduate and postgraduate students by regular immunization programs for Hepatitis B & Influenza.
The department boasts an advanced, and entry-restricted Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology labs, BSL-2 Virology lab, Mycology lab, Serological, Immunology & Parasitology labs.
